Cruel punishment against woman for not conceiving
 
Boli (Rajasthan), SVM News, August 12, 2007: Nihal Kanwar, 27, wife of Rajendra Singh was starved and forced by her in-laws at Gangwada village in Boli of Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan for failing to conceive. police said on Sunday, the 12th of August.
 
The police authorities said this shocking news on Sunday, the 12th of August after recorded Nihal Kanwar's statement in the Boli police station, which is around 175 km from Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Her complaint was lodged to the police station on Friday.
 
Nihal alleged in her complaint that she was being treated inhumanly and kept tied in an animal shelter along with goats at the back of her house. She also told the police that she was given only one chapatti to eat since July 15.
 
Indra Singh, brother of the woman alerted the police when he came to take her to her maternal house for a festival on August 7.  He told that Nihal's in-laws had thrown her out of the house three years ago.
 
Nihal Karwar is now recuperating in a local hospital.
 
Police told to the Salem Voice Ministries (SVM) News Service that they have registered a case of dowry and cruelty against Nihal Kanwar's husband, father and mother-in-law, and brother-in-law.
